Before you fire up those pancakes, Bienenstock Director of Education Jill Bienenstock, demonstrates how to tap a sugar maple tree. ‍ ##### Step 1. Using a ½” drill bit, drill a 1.5” to 2” (4-6cm) hole (careful to not go too deep!) into the tree. ‍ ##### Step 2. Place the spile in the hole. ‍ ##### Step 3. Hammer the spile into the hole. ‍ ##### Step 4. Place the bucket on the hook. ‍ ##### Step 5.
